Surveyについて話すときに使う表現たち

自分用のまとめのために、授業でならった表現をここに落としておきます。

先生は英国人です。

会社の英語の授業なんですが、

やめちゃうので、この更新もあんまりできなくなってしまいますが。

授業内容は、調査（survey）についてでした。

教えてもらったフレーズや単語

・助動詞：auxiliary

・動名詞：gerund

・思ってたよりも～だった

　～than I expected

Taiwan was cooler than I expected.

・偶然に、偶発的に

coincidentally

I visited Taiwan coincidentally.

・仕方なく我慢する

　Grin and bear it　を使用する

If the wash room is occupied, I grin and bear it.

　*standはネガティブな時に使用する。

I can’t stand it! など

・Popularityのcolocationは increase, decrease, fallなど

コストを減らすとかはreduceを使う。

Downは使わない。

・人数などの程度を表す表現

Most people~

Most of my friends~

A few people~

A few of the restaurants~

→ofを使う時は限定したもの（determiner）を指すとき

・英文を作るときはネガティブな言葉やフレーズが文の最初にくる

　×　All of my students don’t llike~

• None of my students like ~

・質問して、もっと知りたいとき

Yesの答えに対して

　Could you be a little more specific?

Noの答えに対して

　Could you explain why you don’t ( aren’t)?

・Survey などの結果を受けて、反応するとき

　>予想外だったとき

   I’m surprised by that~（理由）

　>予想通りだったとき

　 I’m not surprised by that~ （理由）
